Despite Progress in Iraq, Pelosi & Company still intend to keep the surrender option on the table.  Below are some of the Postitive elements in a USA Today article.

  • Rocket and mortar attacks in Iraq have decreased to their lowest levels in more than 21 months.
  • terrorist acts including car bombings and other spectacular, al-Qaeda-style attacks dropped by 77% in the capital.
  • Associated Press figures show a sharp drop in the number of U.S. and Iraqi deaths across the country in the past few months.

And some Recent comments from Pelosi and John “Cut-N-Run” Murtha from this AP article.

It’s a war without end, There is no light at the end of the tunnel. We must reverse it.

Murtha:

Bush will have to accept some timetable on troop withdrawals if he wants the money. I don’t think you’ll see the House pass anything without restrictions.

One thing is certain, cutting off funds or placing an artificial timetable for withdrawal will definately reverse the trend. There will be an increase in violence, terrorism, and body counts, both Iraqi’s and Americans.

There has been a great deal of recent progress made in Iraq, now is the time to increase pressure on the terrorists and insurgents, and allow the political progress to further develop throughout Iraq.

Obama like Typical Democrats sees Tax Hikes as the policy of choice to solve Social Security problems.

From the Chicago Tribune

Democrat Barack Obama said Sunday that if elected he will push to increase the amount of income that is taxed to provide monthly Social Security benefits.

Obama and other Democratic presidential candidates previously have signaled support for this idea.

But during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Obama said subjecting more of a person’s income to the payroll tax is the option he would push for if elected president.

Rather than allowing folks to invest a poriton of the Social Security Taxes they already pay into something like the Thrift Savings Plan, Obama like the rest of the Democrats are determined to increase dependency on inefficient government programs.

I seriously doubt that there is a snowballs chance in hell of this bill getting a vote in Ringside Harry Reid’s Senate, simply because it would put Democrats in the awkward position of having to either supporting the bill and angering the Shamnesty base or oppose it and turning off a large majority of voters that recognize that providing legal ID’s to Illegal immigrants is a bad idea.

From the Union Leader

The resolution, sponsored by Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.), expresses the sense of the Senate that states issuing driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants are disregarding federal immigration laws and, consequently, putting national security at risk, Gregg said. Eight states currently issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, and New York will begin doing so soon.

If it does some how get to the Senate Floor will Hillary vote for it before she votes against it or simply not vote at all.

Two former election officials in Ohio pleaded no contest to charges of attempting to rig the 2004 election recount in their Ohio district… the article however does not mention that they are Democrats.  Had they been Republicans however you could certainly bet that the NY Times, and the rest of the Liberal Rags would have labeled this as evidence of a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

From the AP

Two former elections workers pleaded no contest Monday to rigging a recount during the 2004 presidential election that prosecutors say was meant to avoid a lengthier, more expensive hand recount of all votes.

Prosecutors said Jacqueline Maiden, 60, and Kathleen Dreamer, 41, pleaded no contest to negligent misconduct and failure to perform official duties.

From CNN:

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign admitted late Friday that a staffer spoke to potential questioners at a recent event, but denied that the New York Democrat had any knowledge about what she would be asked by the audience.

Grinnell College’s “Scarlet and Black” newspaper reported a student’s account of being pulled aside before a campaign stop in Newton, Iowa and asked to pose a specific question.

“They were canned,” Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff claimed in an interview with the newspaper. “One of the senior staffers told me what [to ask].”

Gallo-Chasanoff said she was told that the campaign wanted the question, about what Clinton would do for the environment, to be asked by a college student. She said Clinton was prompted to call on her as well as another student seen in conversation with staffers prior to the event.

Nancy Pelosi and company are once again threatening to abandon troops deployed in Iraq to make a political statement. At a time when very significant progress is being made in Iraq in quelling the violence and defeating the terrorists, Democrats seem desperate to snatch Defeat from the Jaws of Victory.

From MSNBC

House Democrats are planning another veto showdown with President Bush on the Iraq war. And this time, they say they won’t back down.

The House planned to vote as early as next week on a $50 billion war spending bill that would require Bush to begin withdrawing troops. The measure identifies a goal of ending combat by December 2008, leaving only enough soldiers and Marines behind to fight terrorists, train Iraqi security forces and protect U.S. assets.

In a private caucus meeting on Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told rank-and-file Democrats the bill was their best shot at challenging Bush on the war. And if Bush rejected it, she said, she did not intend on sending him another war spending bill for the rest of the year.

One hell of a nice message to be sending the troops around Veterans Day…. Of Course that is a holiday that the Moveon.org crowd probably will not be observing…

One has to wonder if the Democrat Presidential Candidates will be supporting this…

If you don’t understand the Democrats’ version of tax cuts (and you are not alone), maybe this will help explain it:

50,000 people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out.  A refund was then due.

The team was about to mail refunds when the Congressional Democrats stopped them and suggested that they send out refund amounts based on the Democrat  National Committee’s interpretation of fairness.

After all, if the refunds were made based on the price each person paid for the tickets, most of the money would go to the ticket holders of the most expensive tickets. That would be unfair and unconscionable.

People in the $10 seats will get back $15, because they have less money to spend. Call it an “Earned Income Ticket Credit.” Persons “earn” it by demonstrating little ambition, few skills and poor work habits, thus keeping them at entry-level wages.

People in the $25 seats will get back $25, because that’s only fair.

People in the $50 seats will get back $1, because they already make a lot of money and don’t need a refund. After all, if they can afford a $50 ticket, then they must not be paying enough taxes.

People in the $75 luxury seats will have to pay another $50, because they have way too much to spend.

The people driving (or walking) by the stadium who couldn’t afford to watch the game will get $10 each, even though they didn’t pay anything in, because they need the most help (sometimes known as Affirmative Action!).

Now do you understand?

If not, contact Representative Nancy Pelosi, Senator Ted Kennedy or Senator Hillary Clinton for assistance.

Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta easily won re-election Tuesday to a third term, and in his victory party he talked about fighting drugs and violence in the city.

He also talked about the issue of illegal immigrants.

He said, “We’ve seen what illegal immigration has done to our small town quality of life and we have said, ‘No! We will not let this happen.”‘ He said, “We will fight!”

Barletta, a Republican, gained national prominence by targeting illegal immigrants living in his Luzerne County city.

Yesterday, he defeated Libertarian candidate John Medashefski, a coffee shop owner who had argued that the city should drop its costly effort to push through a law targeting illegal immigrants.

Unofficial returns showed Barletta winning 90 percent of the vote to Medashefski’s 10 percent.

In the primary, Barletta also won the Democratic nomination as a write-in candidate, easily defeating a comeback bid by a former mayor and leaving himself with no Democrat to face in the general election.

Last year, Barletta pushed through a law that targeted landlords who rented to illegal immigrants and businesses that employed them in this city of 30,000. The law, emulated by dozens of towns around the nation, was struck down by a federal judge as unconstitutional. The judge said states and municipalities cannot regulate immigration.

The city has since appealed.

The fact that Mayor Barletta’s was reelection by such an overwhelming margin demonstrates that his position on the illegal immigration issue goes well beyond party lines.  He has taken his position and stood up and fought for it and for the welfare of his city against the ACLU and other very deep pocketed opponents. The citizens of Hazelton should be commended, & the Mayor congratulated.

There are a lot of Representatives and Senators, and a whole host of Presidential Candidates out there that could learn something from this small town mayor.

Obama supporters didn’t see the humor in funny man Steven Colbert putting his name on the Democratic Primary Ballot in South Carolina.

(CNN) — Two prominent supporters of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in South Carolina called state Democratic Party officials and urged them to keep funnyman Stephen Colbert’s name off the primary ballot, according to party officials and Obama supporters.

I guess they figured that Dennis Kucinich’s UFO stories would be enough of a comedy routine for one election.
