LA Times: Iraqi civilian deaths plunge

I am somewhat surprised but very glad to see the L.A. Times picked up the story.. I wonder when Democrats will be acknowledging that the surge is working, and the War is not Lost…

From the L.A. Times 

“Iraq’s civilian body count in October was less than half that at its height in January, reflecting both the tactical successes of this year’s U.S. troop buildup and the lasting impact of waves of sectarian death squad killings, car bombings and neighborhood purges.”

October also marked the lowest monthly death toll for American troops, 36 fatalities, since March 2006, when 31 were killed, according to

“Al Qaeda in Iraq is defeated,” according to Sheik Omar Jabouri, spokesman for the Iraqi Islamic Party and a member of the widespread and influential Jabouri Tribe.

Regardless of how badly Al Qaeda in Iraq is hurt they remain very dangerous, I think it would be a mistake for us to underestimate them and their ability to inflict large numbers of casualties on US Forces and Iraqi civilians.

    I wonder when Democrats will be acknowledging that the surge is working, and the War is not Lost…

    Just as soon as they can come up with a story that even rises to the level of laughable which gives them the credit.
