Brownback Bows out

Senator Brownback had several problems in his campaign. His campaign was based largely on strong family values which appeals to conservative voters, but his support for Shamnesty for illegal immigrants or as he would put it a path to citizenship undermined that appeal with the very people he was trying to get support from.  End result, he was coming up short on fundraising and was unable to compete in the early Primary and Caucus states.

I only wish he would take the Isolationist Candidate (Ron Paul) with him.

From the AP

People close to Senator Sam Brownback say the Kansas Republican will drop out of the 2008 presidential campaign Friday.

The longshot conservative contender had trouble raising money to compete in the race. He’s expected announce his withdrawal in Topeka.

Brownback raised about $800,000 in the third quarter of this year, his lowest quarterly amount since entering race. He has brought in more than $4 million overall and is eligible for $2 million in federal matching funds.

I love it when a blogger lies or prevaricate instead of telling the truth. You know as well as everyone else that Rep Paul isn’t an Isolationist, he is a Non-Interventionist.

Or you used the term ‘Isolationist’ only because you needed the hits to your blog.

Guess that’s for other to determine.

You only wish he would take the CONSTITUTIONAL candidate (Ron Paul) with him.

Those who attack the Constitution are the real terrorist.

    Comrade “Darrell”. . .

  3. Zaphod:

Non-Interventionist is the same policy that many advocated before WWI, and WWII, to keep the US out of the respective Wars. Like it or not the World is in reality a very small place. What happens in Europe or in Africa or the Mid-East does have an effect on us here in the US. We can not pretend the problems in this world don’t exist and hope that they will go away, because eventually those problems will wind up on our shores.

As far as getting more “hits” on this pst with Ron Paul’s name on it, I don’t see it… Besides anyone who came here just because of the comment I made about Ron Paul really is not going to bring anything to a constructive discussion.

Case in Point is James Jones…

    Have a nice day

I think Brownback’s other problem is that Huckabee is a better candidate seeking a similar or same consituency, and Huckabee has more draw outside that constituency. I hope that this withdrawal produces at least something of a bump for Huckabee.

  5. Luke;

I think Huckabee is in a good position to get a good deal of support from Brownback’s supporters. Iowa is going to be Huckabee’s make or break state. If he can finish in the top 3 in Iowa it could garner him som much needed press time and an oppertunity to get his message out. If however he doesn’t get that Iowa bounce… his campaign could be over as well.

A good man is not always a good candidate.

    Thanks for your comment.

    Darrell
