Romney calls for Banning Iranian President

Don’t know how true this is and the only source I have for it is one of the NY Times political blogs..  If it is true however Romney’s stock just went up a notch…

Mitt Romney, a Republican presidential candidate, is sending a letter to the United Nations Secretary General tomorrow, calling for him to bar Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad from addressing the General Assembly next week and instead hand him an indictment under the Genocide Convention.

Mr. Ahmadinejad is scheduled to give a speech at the 62nd annual meeting of the General Assembly, which begins Tuesday in New York. It will be his third visit to the United States, where he is expected to spend two days, before he departs for Venezuela to meet with President Hugo Chavez.

Update:

Here is an Excerpt from the AP story on Romney

“The Iranian regime under President Ahmadinejad has spoken openly about wiping Israel off the map, has fueled Hezbollah’s terror campaign in the region and around the world and defied the world community in its pursuit of nuclear weapons – capabilities that make these threats even more ominous,” Romney said in a letter to U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon posted on his campaign Web site, http://www.mittromney.com .

In New York, Romney told reporters: “I think the invitatiom should be withdrawn. I think instead, Ahmadinejad should be indicted under the Genocide Convention.”

Amazingly enough Romney is saying prettymuch the same thing I said in an earlier post…

Terrorist to speak at UN General Assembly… Whow Knows maybe he is reading this blog…
