Missing Soldiers IDs Found
The identification cards of the two US soldiers missing since May were found in an Al Qaeda safehouse on June 9th near Samarra. Along with the IDs, video equipment, computers and weapons were recovered. The house was otherwise, empty.
The Islamic State of Iraq, an Al Qaeda front group, claimed they killed all three of the missing soldiers and buried the bodies.
Spc. Alex R. Jimenez and Pvt. Byron Fouty were snatched in a raid on their 10th Mountain Division unit on May 12 near Youssifiyah. The body of a third soldier taken in the raid, Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr., was found floating in the Euphrates River. Four U.S. soldiers and an Iraqi translator were killed in the May 12 ambush.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the missing men, and Pfc. Anzack.
