Here are some of today’s News articles on Illegal Immigration:

Immigration Probe Targets Ill. Company

Executives at a cleaning company were arrested Wednesday on federal charges that they hired illegal immigrants and helped them steal the identities of U.S. citizens.

Gerardo Dominguez, the plant manager for Quality Service Integrity Inc. in Beardstown, and Maria del Pilar Marroquin de Ramirez, the company’s personnel administrator, were charged with aggravated identity theft, among other offenses.

Authorities charged 25 other QSI employees with identity theft, and as of Wednesday afternoon had arrested 11 of them. The executives and the employees were to appear in federal court Thursday.

Another 49 workers were taken into custody as illegal immigrants.

I am sure we can expect some sympathy stories detailing the hardship that the illegals and their families will have to endure since the arrest comes just before the Easter holiday.

Tancredo using small venues to build support

Just days after announcing he is running for President, Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado held a meet-and-greet with voters at Pete’s Guns and Tackle on Dracut Road.

Holding meetings in small venues, such as the gun shop, is the best way to meet voters face to face, said Tancredo, who is hoping to build on the support he garners to compete on a larger scale with the other candidates.

Tancredo said he announced his candidacy the same day other candidates were announcing how much money they had raised.

While they have raised tens of millions of dollars, Tancredo said that in just a month, his campaign has been able to raise approximately $1.5 million, with the average contribution being $59.

“That means a lot of people are behind me,” he said. “I don’t have to buy a constituency; it already exists for me.”

Like I have said before, I don’t think Congressman Tancredo has a realistic shot at getting the Republican nomination for President. His campaign though will be a success if he can keep illegal immigration as one of the major issues of the 2008 Presidential Election.

Tennessee bills target Human Trafficking and Illegal Immigration

Bills addressing modern-day slaves, illegal immigrants, disabled motorists and prison inmates were considered last week by the state House of Representatives, according to state Rep. Jim Hackworth, D-Clinton.

Two major bills in the Finance, Ways and Means and Judiciary committees target involuntary servitude and human trafficking in the Volunteer State. One bill, the “Tennessee Human Trafficking Act of 2007,” outlaws recruiting, transporting and harboring people for coerced, involuntary labor or sexual acts. Another bill would enact the “Tennessee Anti-Child Sexual Servitude and Trafficking Act of 2007,” which specifically protects children younger than 18 years of age from sexual exploitation.

The ACLU and other “Civil Rights Groups” have consistently and continually fought tooth and nail to prevent State and local governments from increasing cooperation with the federal government in enforcing immigration laws.  The actions of these groups do nothing to protect the civil rights of immigrants and instead protect those who exploit them.

Here are a few posts from around the blogosphere that I found interesting:

Captains Quarters has a couple of posts that should both be must reads..

kerrry.jpgThe First is Kerry’s Magic Veep: Remember the rumors and speculation in 2004 about John McCain becoming the running mate of John Kerry? Apparently Kerry said in an interview with Jonathan Singer that it was McCain who approached the Kerry campaign about the mythical John John ticket.mccain.jpg

Captain Ed points that Kerry has a tendency to fabricate facts and spin reality to put himself in a more favorable light… remember his (Christmas in Cambodia) speech. Lets just say that the source of this claim is less than credible…

In another post The UN Hid North Korean Counterfeits, the Captain blogs about the NY kim-jong-il.jpgSun article about UN Officials aiding and abetting Kim Jong Il in the operation of a criminal enterprise…

The last Paragraph of Captain Ed’s post is an absolute gem: (emphasis is mine)

It would be an insult that we cannot afford to let pass. If the UN does not immediately fire everyone involved in this scandal and revoke their immunity, then we must cut off all funds for the UN and create a timetable for withdrawal from this thoroughly corrupt organization. We have no need of a debating society whose members transform refugee camps into seraglios, who stuff the pockets of dictators with money meant for those they oppress, and who actively assist other nations in undermining our currency. If the UN fails to cooperate, it’s time to push Turtle Bay into the water and bid adieu to the last of the Cold War anachronisms.

The UN building would make great condo’s too…

From my Blogging buddies at Hang Right Politics Kathy has this post discussing Chuck Schumer and the media circus surrounding the firing of some Federal Prosecutors.  Kathychucky.jpg accurately and elloquintly points out that without the media driven bash Bush agenda Schumer would would not be holding hearings on the issue..

If there was no cooperation by the media, there would be no story. Even a preening Schumer can do the math. Clinton fired the same amount of prosecutors nine times over. There was no investigation then, and no call for one in the press. The Constitution is the ultimate victim here. Prosecutors serve at the pleasure of the President. Period.

Someone turn off the cameras, and watch, Schumer will just go home.

Read the whole post Democrats: The Conflict of Interest Party… on a bit of a side note… Wasn’t it Chuck Schumers aid who committed Identity Theft to aquire Michael Steele’s Credit Report in the 2006 campaign season? Somehow I don’t think Chuck will be demanding congressional investigations into that… But really What did Chuck Know and When did he know it?

And finally from my fellow Milblogger BlackFive, whose post about Ringside Harry Reid’s harry-reid.jpgthreat to cut off funding for troops in Iraq had me rolling on the floor laughing.  Here are the last couple of Paragraphs:

I take heart from the fact that the left has so much juice with the Dems that they have started to believe they won a mandate for immediate withdrawal. They completely mistook America’s MTV length attention span and On Demand mentality for a defeatist, hate America mind set. This will offer a serious eye opener when Harry has to openly declare his party’s position that we have lost the war and must cede the battlefield and the victory to Al Qaeda.

Hey you could have Code Pink and Move ON hold a Defeat Parade to celebrate our loss and the subsequent inability to act as a deterrent  to bad guys anywhere. YEA!!!!!!!!!

So do it  Harry, C’mon don’t  ‘ya feel lucky……punk!

Read the whole post Please let Harry Reid cut off funding

As much as I agree with Congressman Tancredo on Immigration, I honestly don’t see his campaign taking off.  Regardless of his position on other issues I am sure many of which I agree with he will likely be seen as a one issue candidate at a time when the nation faces many issues.

From the DesMoines Register

U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, a leading voice in Congress for immigration reform, announced his candidacy for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination Monday on WHO radio in Des Moines.

At best his candidacy will drive the debate on immigration and detail the stark differences between candidates like John McCain who co-sponsored the Senate’s Amnesty bill. It could also push candidates like Rudy Giuliani to be more deffinitive in his illegal immigration stance.

With any luck they’ll keep her.

WASHINGTON (AP) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will visit Syria, a country President Bush has shunned as a sponsor of terrorism, despite being asked by the administration not to go.

“In our view, it is not the right time to have these sort of high- profile visitors to Syria,” State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters Friday.
