Romney Kicks off his White house Bid

romney.jpgDEARBORN, Michigan (CNN) — Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney returns to his native state of Michigan on Tuesday to officially kick off his bid for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.

After the 9 a.m. ET announcement at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Romney will embark on a four-day, six-state tour that will include stops in three crucial early primary and caucus states — Iowa, South Carolina and New Hampshire — as well as Massachusetts and Florida.

Romney’s choice for the location of his official announcement, Michigan, is the state where his late father, George Romney, served as governor from 1963 to 1969. His presidential bid comes 40 years after his father made an unsuccessful fun for the GOP nomination in 1968.

I admit I don’t know a lot about Governor Romney, hopefully the campaign will reveal more of what he proposes, but for right now when I think of a Massachusetts Governor running for President, all I can think of is Michael Dukakis, who has a name that sounds more like a social disease than a presidential contender… Now I am not saying that Romney is anything like Dukakis, just that Romney has a lot of work to do to convince voters he is not a typical Massachusetts politician.
