Keithan Panyavong: Mother confessed to giving toddler an overdose
The second tragic ending to a missing persons case this week. Yesterday, the bodies of the South Carolina couple was recovered from a traffic accident in North Carolina. This evening authorities have recovered the body of 19 month old Keithan Panyavong from a dumpster not far from his home. Making the circumstances even more sad is that he had been given an overdose of medication by his mother.
The article does not make it clear that the overdose was intentional or accidental, but since family tried to hide the child from investigators it is evident that they were trying to cover it up
Sheriff’s investigators took Erika Panyavong, the mother of a missing toddler, from her home for additional questioning on Tuesday afternoon. They said in the evening that Panyavong had confessed to giving the child an overdose of medication and putting his body in a trash bag and dumping it in a Dumpster. Panyavongwas not under arrest, said police, but investigators said it was safe to say she would not be leaving their custody during the night.

Vista (CNS) — A 30-year-old woman was in custody today on suspicion of murder after allegedly admitting to accidentally killing her toddler, whose body was found in a trash bin near their home in an unincorporated area of Escondido.
Phatsary “Erika” Panyavong was booked last night into the Vista Detention Facility, authorities said.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed today that the body of 19-month-old Keithan Panyavong was discovered lat yesterday. An autopsy was being performed this morning.
Investigators found the body on Rock Springs Road after Erika Panyavong allegedly admitted during an interrogation to finding her son dead and dumping his body.
The Escondido woman allegedly said she had fatally over-medicated the toddler, who had been sick the previous night, according to news reports.
