Missing 19 month old

From The San Diego Union

ESCONDIDO – More than 50 law enforcement personnel spent yesterday hunting for a 19-month-old boy who disappeared from his crib.

There were few clues to where Keithan Panyavong had gone in his one-piece sleeper or even when he had disappeared, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.

The boy’s parents said they last saw him asleep in his crib abound 11 p.m. Saturday in their three-bedroom home off a winding rural road in the Rock Springs area, where they had moved only weeks before, according to Capt. Glenn Revell.

There was no immediate evidence of any forced entry into the house, Revell said. The parents told authorities they had no reason to suspect anything in their lives would have led to foul play, he said, but there were many unknowns in the case so far.

“All we know for sure is there is a missing 19-month old under mysterious circumstances,” said Revell.

Keithan weighs 25 pounds, is 3 feet tall and has black hair and brown eyes.

The parents, whose names were not released, said they put their toddler to bed around 10 p.m., checked on him an hour later, and then the father left home for what authorities called a social event. Authorities did not say where the father went or when he returned. Revell said the boy’s parents said they then watched a movie on TV and went to bed between 5 and 6 a.m.

It wasn’t until noon yesterday, when their 7-year-old daughter asked where Keithan was that the parents realized he was missing, according to Revell. He said they didn’t call authorities until 1:30 p.m.

Last night, search and rescue teams on foot, horseback and in helicopters made their way through the canyons and rolling hills of the Rock Springs area between Escondido and San Marcos.
