Kos Kids Pushing for President Pelosi…

I don’t care how much you dislike Bush or Cheney… This is a scary thought

From the Daily Kos

If we are to impeach, we must impeach both Bush and Cheney. It will not do any good for us to impeach Bush and have Cheney take the Oval Office and pick someone just as radical as he is. It will also not do any good for us to impeach just Cheney and allow Bush to groom John “I’m not knowledgeable” McCain for the 2008 election. Therefore, we must simultaneously impeach both of them so that the 3rd person in succession, Nancy Pelosi, would become the next President of the United States.

  1. Tom Ritchford

Bush and Cheney are responsible for the unnecessary deaths of literally thousands of Americans in a pointless, failed war. They failed America in her moment of need in 9/11; they failed America in her moment of need in Katrina.

They deserve to be impeached — and jailed for that matter.

  2. I guess it would be to much to ask if you were to supply a rebuttal to the 14 point avenue of approach brought up by the article? No, much easier to be negative about Pelosi.

  3. Tom and Frederick,
We have elections in this country – not coups – you should be ashamed of yourselves!

  4. Tom Ritchford

Why should I be ashamed of myself?

Bush and Cheney knowingly lied and *caused thousands of Americans to die*.

Surely thousands of American deaths, caused by deliberate dishonesty, is worth an impeachment? As I recall, your team recently impeached a perfectly competent President over a consentual sexual relationship — are we saying that the lives of our children are less important than a blowjob?

  5. ME

    uhhh…. Kathy?

Are you saying that because we have elections in this country, we cannot impeach our leaders? That would make the section of the constitution about impeachment rather odd, no?

What if Bush and Cheney are actually guilty of some unknown crime? Would you support impeachment? Or would that be wrong because we have “elections”?

    Think… then post.

  6. If what you two have posted is an example of thought – you need to think again.

We don’t impeach our leaders for going to war – stupid- the congress voted for it – no matter how much you idiots like to rewrite history – some of us remember beyond the day before yesterday.

You’ll have to start by impeaching the Congress.

So much for your thoughtful responses.

What you propose is using impeachment to put into the WH an oppositional political party.

That is a “coup”, another word for you two genuises.

And I long ago gave up the idea democrats had enough brains to be ashamed. Thanks for the evidence, yet again, that I’m correct in your disdain for the will of the American people.

  7. Oh and before you start complaining that you don’t impeach Congress – let me introduce you to a concept – it’s called sarcasm.

Darrell – you need more intelligent trolls – but alas they don’t become trolls by being intelligent.

  8. Dennis

Some user at DailyKos publishes a diary and you think it is worth getting excited about? All the Dem leaders know that impeaching Bush is a waste of time because the Republicans in the Senate won’t vote to remove him from office. I think there are a lot more topics in the world worth discussing.

  9. jvf

Impeachment of the president and vice president would not be a coup. It would be an example of our Democracy functioning properly. The fact that the next in line is a member of the opposition party is irrelevant.

It is my opinion that the single worst foreign policy decision in our nation’s history is indeed an impeachable offense. Because the Vice President was at least as instrumental as the President in bringing about this policy, he deserves impeachment as well.

  10. BTW – Clinton was impeached for perjury, among other things. The fact that he did have sex with that woman after staring into a tv camera and saying to America “I did not have sex with that woman” and only came clean thanks to DNA – is humiliating for the country in the extreme – but while that is immoral and stupid – it isn’t the reason he was impeached.

    Who taught you history?

And of course 9/11 can be layed directly at Clinton’s feet. He could have killed OBL and chose not to prevent 9/11.

    Talk about malfeasance.

But then I understand you want payback. That’s what all this stupid conversation is about. Revenge.

Go for it – it will hand us back the House and the Senate, and the WH in 08.

  11. Again the Congress voted for it, jvf, so attacking the WH when war declaration powers are constitutionally manifested in the Congress is not Constitutional.

And if there was a Speaker Hastert – there would be no talk of impeachment – so I guess the idea that this isn’t a coup – is disingenuous.

Not even you are that stupid.

  12. Tom, Freddy, & Me:

First off Kos himself made the “Impeach Bush & Cheny” Post about politics and not about any imagined high crimes and misdemeanors.

Here is the Quote incase you missed it.

Therefore, we must simultaneously impeach both of them so that the 3rd person in succession, Nancy Pelosi, would become the next President of the United States.

That statement shows that the goal that the kos kids have is to put the Wicked Witch of the West in the Oval Office…

Secondly congress voted to authorize mililtary force in November 2002 to force Saddam Hussein to comply with UNSC Resolutions. Congress voted on this based on the same intelligence that was available to the President. Before you attempt to say that Bush twisted the intelligence to get the congressional votes he wanted, explain how Congress had voted in 1998 to seek the removal of Saddam from power based on much the same Intelligence and the same Intelligence methods. Bush Was still governor of Texas then and had no impact on that intelligence.

What the Kos Kids are proposing is based on politics, not any high crimes and misdemeanors.. any impeachment pursued with these motives is indeed a coup attempt.

    Kathy;

Thanks for keeping the trolls in line, they ventured over from Salon which linked to what I had said.

  13. POed Liberal

I used to post on DKos. However, I have been bumped off for calling impeachment the Children’s Crusade. It’s a moronic, idiotic and totally stupid crusade. It has no chance of success. It will destroy the credibility of the Democratic Party.

Yet, the Children’s Crusade continues, with 3-4 diaries every single day arguing passionately, with 0 rationality, for impeachment.

Of course, Bush deserves impeachment. He should be taken in front of a military tribunal and tried for war crimes, since he is the most guilty of any American president. However, it won’t happen.

What the Democrats need to do is concentrate on blackening his reputation, destroying the image of the Repukeliscum Party, and putting all the blame on Bush, Rove and Cheney.

  14. Darrell,
Great post. I do believe that Pelosi lied when she said impeachment was off the table. She won’t be able to resist.

Therefore I have no doubt we will recover both Houses of Congress in 08. Democrats were elected by running to the right of the republicans, not to the left. Allowing the looney left to dictate policy will create a landslide for republicans when democrats demonstrate they cannot be trusted with political power.

They aren’t interested in what is best for America. They won’t to punish political opponents for the loss of the WH and for obstructing their long unfulfilled lust to relive the haydays of Vietnam.

If only they could have another Watergate. LOL.

    These are not serious people.

  15. PIMF ! won’t=want !

  16. Kathy;

Every Democrat that was elected that ran on a more conservative platform has to cringe every time the Wicked Witch of the West take the podium to speak… And as Speaker of the House she will get that oppertunity often..

    Darrell

  17. Jeff

You can’t be impeached for making a bad foriegn policy decision. You can be impeached (and then removed from office which is not one in the same) for LYING to congress. In this country, lying to congress is a felony. You can be impeached for spying on the American people without a warrant. That too is a crime. Impeachment proceedings would be mistake. We have far too many urgent problems to tend to spend our time on impeachment. We have time to make new policy and investigate, investigate, investigate, all the issues that need to be corrected.

  18. “Kathy;

Thanks for keeping the trolls in line, they ventured over from Salon which linked to what I had said.”

Darrell, you are correct…I ended up here via Salon. Explain to me how asking for simple rebuttal to “Eternal Hope’s” dairy or pointing out your negativity towards Pelosi is in anyway being Troll like. Since when does a diarist at the Daily Kos set policy for the Speaker of the House? (Who by the way, along with numerous others, has said impeachment was off the table.)

As for Kathy, she did you a disservice with her unhinged and combative responses. Especially for her remarks about Clinton’s responsibility for 911. He shares in the blame, of course, but not for taking a pass on bin Laden:

According to the 9/11 Commission Report (pg. 199), then-CIA Director George Tenet had the authority from President Clinton to kill Bin Laden. Roger Cressy, former NSC director for counterterrorism, has written, “Mr. Clinton approved every request made of him by the CIA and the U.S. military involving using force against bin Laden and al-Qaeda.”

Embarrassing, but nothing you can’t work hard and try to come back from Kathy…

  19. Therefore I have no doubt we will recover both Houses of Congress in 08. Democrats were elected by running to the right of the republicans, not to the left.

Your not seriously believing that, are you Kathy?

  20. Frederick,
Unhinged? Your command of the language is somewhat limited, isn’t it… If ever a word was coined for the liberal left, unhinged is it.

As to the discussion about Clinton’s part in 9/11 – if you only present part of the discussion – no one can take you seriously. Clinton, by several accounts DID NOT AUTHORIZE killing OBL. And your inadequate reading skills notwithstanding, your excerpt doesn’t dispute other accounts that he did not follow through on the pursuit of OBL.

I’ve looked at the House races one by one, Frederick, and the same with the Senate. Why did your party run to the right? Because leftism is not the majority.

If the leftists govern – voters will revoke that power. Your say anything to get electeds like Schuler in NC11 will have a problem facing a conservative electorate in 2008. There won’t be any more Foleys and Abramoffs, but there are still Hastings, Reids, Murthas, and Jeffersons…

The only scandals left in Congress will be in the political party in power. And since you lived by the sword in 2006 you will die by it in 2008 – we took care of our scandals, you re-elected yours.

And then the last minute dirty tricks department can’t keep a Sekula-Gibbs or a Negron’s name off the ballot.

Winning in such low ways have a way of sticking with voters. Look for TX 22 and FL 11 to return to the Republican columns as well.

I could go on… but Frederick… you hardly seem worth the effort.

  21. KC

“As to the discussion about Clinton’s part in 9/11 – if you only present part of the discussion – no one can take you seriously. Clinton, by several accounts DID NOT AUTHORIZE killing OBL. And your inadequate reading skills notwithstanding, your excerpt doesn’t dispute other accounts that he did not follow through on the pursuit of OBL.”

Kathy – have you been drinking the Kool Aid again? Let’s get a couple of things straight here:

    1. Clinton recognized OBL as a threat and WAS actively pursuing him. It would have been impossible to know exactly what OBL was capable of when a new administration, incompetent to defend our own shores against a terrorist attack, was in power. Furthermore, he ADMITTED that he couldn’t get him. Has your idiot in charge done the same? Heck, this is AFTER OBL attacked us on OUR OWN SHORES.
    2. Clinton was NEVER offered OBL by Sudan or any other country. Stop listening to Hannity and Rush long enough to read up on the real story.
    3. Clinton presented the incoming president with a report in one form or another detailing why he felt that OBL should be a priority – this was ignored – probably in the din of all the LIES about how Clinton’s people had trashed the WH.

    From a WaPo article on Sept. 24, 2006 –

Clinton said he authorized the CIA to kill bin Laden, and even “contracted with people to kill him.” He also said he had a plan to attack Afghanistan, overthrow the Taliban and hunt for bin Laden after the attack on the USS Cole, but the CIA and FBI refused to certify that bin Laden was responsible, and Uzbekistan refused to allow the United States to set up a base. By contrast, Clinton said the Bush administration’s neoconservatives “had no meetings on bin Laden for nine months,” believing he had been “too obsessed with bin Laden.”

“At least I tried,” Clinton said. “That’s the difference [between] me and some, including all of the right-wingers who are attacking me now. They ridiculed me for trying. They had eight months to try. They did not try. I tried. So I tried and failed. When I failed, I left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy and the best guy in the country, [Richard] Clarke, who got demoted.”

Clinton seemed particularly irked by Wallace’s reference to his decision in 1993 to pull troops out of Somalia, a move bin Laden later described as a sign of American weakness. Clinton argued that even though many Republicans demanded a withdrawal from Somalia the day after the downing of a Black Hawk helicopter, he kept a U.S. presence there for another six months to ensure an orderly transition to United Nations forces.

    […]

    4. Should it be determined that the reason that Congress DID approve the ATUF in Iraq based on false intelligence originating in the Executive Branch, and known about by Rumsfeld, Cheney, and by extension, Bush – then yes – the Congress would be justified in pursuing impeachment proceedings.

  22. Freddy:

You want a point by point rebuttal of the Kos Post?? Why would I want to waste my time debating baseless conspiracy theories. But here are a few none the less hopefully this will keep you busy for a while.

    1. Neither Bush nor Cheney outed Valerie Plame.. Richard Armitage revealed her position to Bob Novak, her name he got from Who’s Who magazine…

    2. See comment # 12 about the Intel

    3. Renditions are a standard practice, most often returning suspects to their nation of origin or to another nation that has prosecutory interest in the suspects.

    4. Gitmo prisoners are enemy combatants captured on the battlefield who are not in the service of any nation nor do they wear the uniform of any country.. As such they are not Prisoners of War.

  23. Kathy,

I’m an Independent voter, you know, those people the Republicans lost earlier this month…the only Democrats I voted for was Governor elect Spitzer and the AG. You can count on further losses in 08′ when you can’t debate an issue on the merits and without your negative tone. Indeed, what Republicans stated this year was that Independent voters are ,”hardly worth the effort

  24. Frederick:

Since I am a New Yorker too… I will blame you for raising taxes…

  25. “You want a point by point rebuttal of the Kos Post?? Why would I want to waste my time debating baseless conspiracy theories.”

Then of what point was this post to begin with? If you didn’t want a debate about the issues you could have saved us all time by photoshopping up a picture of Pelosi in a witches outfit.

In the end, however, I thank you for at least pointing out a little of what you find weak in the Impeachment argument. At most I think a formal censure would be most appropriate, but I believed that already happened in another form on the 7th.

  26. KC

Oh, and one more thing, Kathy –

    Who friggin’ CREATED OBL?!

Yeah, that’s right – the guy your ilk wants most to see next on Rushmore – Ronald Reagan.

Who kissed his family’s ass for 2 decades?!

Yeah, that’s right – Los Arbustos.

If you want to get into Clinton conspiracy theories, be prepared for the ones that get thrown back into your face.

And Darrell said “4. Gitmo prisoners are enemy combatants captured on the battlefield who are not in the service of any nation nor do they wear the uniform of any country.. As such they are not Prisoners of War.”

Not entirely true, unfortunately. How hard is it for you to picture one Afghani selling out another Afghani neighbor/former political rival/enemy to the US after the fall of the Taliban as a terrorist, when in fact, this was never true? There had to have been monetary or political incentives for such behavior.
What about the Canadian citizen who was illegally and incorrectly picked up and taken to some middle east dungeon for the better part of a year based on a mistake and the fact that standard legal channels are being subjectively subverted?

Nevermind the horrible precedent that holding people indefinitely, and suspending any rights to defend themselves sets. I find it hard to believe that you can’t see this.

  27. ME

Darrell and Kathy, you have both written so many falsehoods in this one thread that I’m actually appalled at the state of the conservative mind these days.

For me, as a liberal, wishing Clinton’s infidelity to be a lie did not make it so. And I accepted it, politically painful as it was, because it was reality.

You two consistently deny reality, and not ust some “he-sad, she-said” stuff, but actual history that we know to be true. If you look into every point you make, theres a gotcha at every one. A reason why it isn’t really so. The points themselves are irrelevant compared to your willingness to willfully disregard inconvenients truths, though I’ll get to a couple in a second. Furthermore, the willingness to accept and promulgate sophomoric and contrived arguments to defend the indefensible is really enlightening. In most cases you show yourselves to be ignorant (or have poor reading comprehension) regarding the actual subject matter at hand.

    just a couple examples:

“Gitmo prisoners are enemy combatants captured on the battlefield”

NO, they are not. Some are, but most were not captured on any battlefield.

“Renditions are a standard practice, most often returning suspects to their nation of origin or to another nation that has prosecutory interest in the suspects.”

Sure, but we’re talking about Extraordinary Renditions. Read about what makes them extraordinary and you will see why you are wrong to characterize the issue this way.

“Neither Bush nor Cheney outed Valerie Plame.. Richard Armitage revealed her position to Bob Novak, her name he got from Who’s Who magazine…”

It was Who’s who in american politics. A book, not a magazine. Noone contends that Bush or Cheney outed plame, and Armitage was aware of the “Push Back” effort the WH was making when he outed her. So your comment tells us nothing new, and exonerates noone.

    Kathy,

The issue isn’t “going to war”. Noone is talking about impeaching Bush for “going to war” per-se. The problem is how he got authorization from Congress. In the request for authorization, known falshoods were included, and known truths ommitted, to make the case against Saddam stronger. That is fact. Not opinion. Regardless of how congress votes, how george runs the war, etc… lying to congress is still a crime.

So no, I don’t think you guys have a very good idea about what bush would be impeached for, and in arguing how politically motivated and stupid it is, you expose your own ignorance about the issues at hand.

If you research for yourself instead of repeating drudge/hannity/limbaugh talking points, you might actually know some of this stuff.

  28. ME:

First off I have not mentioned Clinton either Bill or the Wicked Witch of the East in this thread.

Those detained at Gitmo were captured in Afghanistan actively engaged in combat with US Forces… This makes them enemy combatants..

do you have a link about these “extraordinary” renditions, and what seperates them from normal renditions?

Since Plame’s name was already in the public domain no one could have outed her.. Since the original Kos post listed her “outing” as Item #4 on the list of reasons to impeach Bush/Cheney it certainly sounds to me like someone is contending that they outed her.

and ME: My whole point in posting this was this line from the original post.

“we must simultaneously impeach both of them so that the 3rd person in succession, Nancy Pelosi, would become the next President of the United States.”

This clearly states that the goal is to get Pelosi into the oval office. nothing more nothing less.

Here is some free advice for you… go to the nearest ATM, withdraw $20 and go make a downpayment on a clue… You definately need it.

  29. TantheBlackhearted

    Moonbats Unhinged!

Dennis, thank you for being the voice of reason throughout, I entirely agree, thinking the President and Vice President should be impeached is not only a waste of time, but utter childishness (not surprisingly demonstrated by the Dims of the Left).

It always makes me laugh to see people discuss ‘what is good for the military’, when all it wants to do is get the job done. I question whether these same individuals have that resolve in their own personal lives.

From their utter contempt, I think not.

    Keep posting moonbats! Keep posting.

  30. KC

“Dennis, thank you for being the voice of reason throughout, I entirely agree, thinking the President and Vice President should be impeached is not only a waste of time, but utter childishness (not surprisingly demonstrated by the Dims of the Left).”

I’m pretty sure I will agree with that too. Assuming the 5+ year, $90M investigation into every aspect of Cheney’s ties to Halliburton’s no bid contracts, the outcomes of his closed door energy policy meetings, Bush’s role in determining the “facts” that were presented to Congress leading to the ATUF and the Iraq debacle clears them of all wrong doing.

Are any of you for these investigations?

You see, wingers – I’m not saying Clinton didn’t lie under oath about a blowjob. I’m not saying that it was OK, but if you idiots can’t see that it was an extraordinary waste of your own taxpayer money, and time that could have been spent tracking terrorists that led to impeachment proceedings for lying about a BJ, then you’re looking at the world through a partisan looking glass, and sipping the Kool Aid a little too often.

Let me leave you with a thought: I’m not sure where each poster here stands, but it’s a fact that the foreign policy neocons have never been right about anything. Including the myth of the exaggerated Soviet threat that led to Vietnam and the rise of the Islamofacists. But if you want to keep believing the myth that Reagan and the arms race is what bankrupted and caused the downfall of the USSR, then by all means be happy in your ignorance.

  31. liberalpercy

Love the way you Wingnuts take one person’s post at Kos and blow it up into a great “Left Wing Conspiracy”. Means we’re really getting to you folks. President Pelosi. Kind of like the sound of that.

Quiver and quake at the thought, do you? Good. Serves you right for foisting Dumbya and Halliburton Cheney on us. Although NOTHING will ever repay the thousands of families of those killed for the idiot cowboy’s neocon folly that is Iraq. Impeachment is too good for him.

He and Cheney should be handed empty guns and told to go find their WMD’s in Sadr City.

  32. Liberalpercy;

Actually I would guess that it is me who got to you. All I did was post 1 line about a post at Kos. In return this thread has 32 comments.. so who is getting to who?

    Thanks for the comment though…

  33. Tom Ritchford

Wow, seems like people are pretty blind here.

3000 American soldiers dead — for nothing. The World Trade Center — gone. Bin Laden — roaming free to mock us, we didn’t even *pretend to try* to catch him. New Orleans — destroyed and never fixed. The largest deficits ever from any organization, government or otherwise. It’s an astonishingly record of complete incompetence never before equalled in the history of humanity.

You can talk and talk and talk and talk but no one is ever going to forget these things as long as this country lasts. And you know this, deep in your hearts.

Bush and Cheney knowingly lied to Congress to start this war. Now 3000 young Americans wasted their lives for nothing. We ignored the actual terrorists and they continued to kill, in Madrid, in Bali, in London, and we continued to do nothing.

Feel free to continue with the name calling. It must be pretty pathetic to be you right now. After six years of continued, unadulterated, unmitigated failure, failure over and over and over again in each and every possible way, failure costing the lives of Americans and hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars, you must be living in a strange world very very far from consensus reality right now. If you weren’t such awful and morally irresponsible human beings, one could almost feel sorry for you — as it is, I’m happy to see you reap the fruits of your evil, and only wish you could change places with the people in Iraq and see everything you ever held dear destroyed in front of you as we have done to them.

  34. TantheBlackhearted

Yes KC, I am aware of Cheney’s employment at Halliburton.

Do you know who awarded the first no-bid contract to Halliburton?

    President Bill Clinton.

Please get off the conspiracy theory websites and try doing something productive, like maybe working?

That’s certainly what I am off to do.

This whole tirade from you KOS people is amusing, but I have better things to do with my time.

  35. TantheBlackhearted

    Tom:

    Your post is hilarious.

My advice to you would be to take an Economics course.

Now what is the deficit as a percentage of GDP? How much does this differ from previous Presidents?

    Unemployment rate?

    Rate of inflation?

    Stock market?

Sheesh, you are calling everyone else blind. I am still ROFLMAO

  36. Tom Ritchford

Glad you can get a laugh out of all those thousands of American dead — and those hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.

But I note you’re the only one laughing.

  37. TantheBlackhearted

    Well well Tom

Interesting you’re not answering any of those questions and deciding to discuss another topic where you are clueless.

As the wife of a career military member, absolutely yes I AM LAUGHING AT YOU AGAIN. Our military knows what they’re getting into when they SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE.

Most military members laugh at your ilk since you have NO CLUE of what the job entails.

Our military has a job to do. Currently to thwart terrorism. Now if you think Saddam was a misunderstood guy and shouldn’t have been overthrown, that’s your stupidity.

    So to continue the questions………

    What is Salman Pak?

    What happened at Taiwatha?

What were the three reasons the President put forth to go into Iraq?

How many members of Congress said “No”?

Oh and Tom, those that see their protologists regularly to find their head wouldn’t be laughing, see, it’s dark up there.

However, do keep up with the stupidity, you’re a really funny guy.
