Watada to face Court-Martial

HONOLULU – The Army announced on Thursday that it will move forward on a court-martial for a soldier from Hawaii who refused to deploy with his unit to Iraq. The Army charged 1st Lt. Ehren Watada, 28, with missing movement, contempt toward officials and conduct unbecoming an officer.

Lt.Ehren Watada did not leave Fort Lewis officials in Washington state when he was scheduled to deploy on June 22. Watada enlisted in the Army in 2003.

Watada claims he researched the war and determined it to be illegal… Watada is a soldier and while soldiers can question illegal orders no military can operate when individual soldiers are determining the basis for any military action is legal or illegal. My personal opinion is that Watada whos family has a long history with Anit War Movements joined the military specifically to undermine it from within.. Similar to Johnathan Hutto… my post on Hutto.. Military personnel speaking out?….  Mudville Gazette has more on Hutto as well.

Back to Watada… If convicted the Max Penalty is 6yrs confinement.. Frankly I hope he gets the maximum penalty.
