Arellano Ignores Judge’s Ruling

Cross Posted from CommonSenseAmerica

Ignoring the laws of our nation once again, Elvira Arellano claims she will not abide by the ruling of a Federal Judge.

CHICAGO – Immigration activist Elvira Arellano said Saturday she will remain holed up in a church in an effort of avoid deportation even though a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against the government.

It seems with each law she has broken, Ms. Arellano has become more emboldened.

She first was arrested in 1997 soon after crossing into the United States and was sent back to Mexico.

She returned and was arrested again in 2002 and convicted of working as a cleaning woman at O’Hare International Airport under a false Social Security number.

While cherry picking the laws of this nation she wishes to accept, Arellano hopes to use other laws to protect her illegal status and crimes.

Elvira Arellano, 31, had hoped the judge would rule that deporting her would violate the constitutional rights of her 7-year-old son, Saul, an American citizen.

But U.S. District Judge Amy J. St. Eve ruled Friday that the boy’s rights would not be violated, though she did say the child would suffer a hardship.

“The question before the court is whether that hardship is of constitutional magnitude – under any construction of the alleged facts, it is not,” St. Eve said in her order.

The judge concluded that the pending removal order does not prevent Saul from exercising his rights of citizenship.

It seems that her pastor does not intend to acknowledge the ruling of our Federal court either:

Coleman said he is not concerned that federal officials will enter the church to remove Arellano.

“We fear God more than we fear Homeland Security,” he said.

I wonder where all of the liberals who scream about separation of Church and State have gone? Her pastor is knowingly aiding and abetting a fugitive while trying to re-define our laws in the sanctuary of his church to suit a member of his congregation.

Arellano, 31, and her son have been living at the Adalberto United Methodist Church since mid-August to avoid deportation.

“I want to stay here with my son,” Arellano said in Spanish. “I’m not just fighting for my situation…you can’t separate families.”

Church pastor the Rev. Walter L. Coleman, who filed the lawsuit in August for Arellano, says she will continue working on all three branches of government to find a way to stay in the U.S. They are in contact with other families in similar situations and are considering filing a class action lawsuit, he said.

Often overlooked in these cases, as the media tries to blur the facts, is that had Ms. Arellano gone through the legal channels of becoming a U.S. citizen back in 1997, when she first decided to ignore our laws, she would be well on her way to being a legal American citizen today, instead of hiding behind her son and her church.

The Judge was correct in this case that, “the boy’s rights would not be violated, though she did say the child would suffer a hardship”.

But, who is responsible for the “hardship” this child will suffer, and is suffering today?

In this upside down debate, some will jump at the chance to claim the lawbreaker is the victim. It is time to turn logic back on its head.

Life is all about choices, folks. There are right choices and there are wrong choices.

It was Ms. Arellano who chose to ignore our law in 1997. It was also her choice to illegally re-enter after being deported the first time. It was again her choice to use a fraudulent Social Security number. She made these choices of her own free will. She was not coerced.

Ms. Arellano has made her choices and now it is time she accepted the responsibility for her actions. She has to do this not only for herself but also as an example in accepting personal responsibility for one’s actions for her son.
