New Poll Shows Lieberman Leading Lamont

I don’t really like Polls very much simply stated, if Gallup would have been advising Jesus on the poll numbers they would have told him to remain a carpenter..

This poll however looks interesting..

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Ned Lamont, whose anti-war campaign rattled the political landscape by toppling Sen. Joe Lieberman in Connecticut’s Democratic primary, is gaining support among voters – but Lieberman still has an edge, according to a poll released Thursday.

The Quinnipiac University poll has Lieberman leading Lamont among registered voters 49 percent to 38 percent. Republican Alan Schlesinger gets support from 4 percent. Among likely voters, Lieberman was supported by 53 percent, compared to Lamont’s 41 percent and Schlesinger’s 4 percent.

If this trend continues you have to wonder if the Dem leadership will continue to support Lamont.

When a party leader and incumbent Senator lose their parties primary election to a challenger, it may indicate that the incumbent is out of touch with the rest of his party… If that Same incumbent continues the campaign as an independent and beats the challenger, It is more likely an indication that the extreme elements of the party are out of touch with mainstream voters..

It’s not about the polls now, but on 07 November.

Many say that after winning in November Lieberman is planning to resign to take the position of Secretary of Defense. Afterwards the republican Connecticut governor would appoint a republican to replace Lieberman in the senate.

Lieberman is now calling for Rumsfeld’s resignation and campaigning with republican candidates.
