As much as I agree with Congressman Tancredo on Immigration, I honestly don’t see his campaign taking off. Regardless of his position on other issues I am sure many of which I agree with he will likely be seen as a one issue candidate at a time when the nation faces many issues.
From the DesMoines Register
U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, a leading voice in Congress for immigration reform, announced his candidacy for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination Monday on WHO radio in Des Moines.
At best his candidacy will drive the debate on immigration and detail the stark differences between candidates like John McCain who co-sponsored the Senate’s Amnesty bill. It could also push candidates like Rudy Giuliani to be more deffinitive in his illegal immigration stance.

I just hope we can vote someone in that can help us AMERICANS out.
I want my COUNTRY BACK.
I don’t think he has much chance either, but I’m hoping for something good to come out of all of this.

I think the best that Congressman Tancredo can hope to do is drive the debate, and force other Republican Candidates to come to terms on thier own immigration position. He can do this by pointing out the differences between a border security first approach and the shamnesty bill that McCain put forth in the Senate last year.
Thanks,
Darrell
