IDF Building buffer Zones in South Lebanon

Israel Defense Forces soldiers and Hezbollah gunmen were involved in fierce battles Thursday afternoon in south Lebanon.

The IDF is planning a new defensive line in southern Lebanon that will be six to eight kilometers north of the Israeli border.

By 2 P.M., IDF troops had established positions overlooking 11 south Lebanese towns and villages up to six kilometers north of the Israeli border.

The area that the IDF is bringing under its control is effectively the same security zone it held until the pullout from Lebanon in May 2000.

Israel Air Force warplanes renewed strikes against Hezbollah strongholds in the battered outskirts of the Lebanese capital in the early hours of Thursday, as well as on Lebanon’s northern border with Syria and in the eastern Bekaa Valley.

Hezbollah fires at least 30 rockets at Kiryat Shmona and the Golan Heights.

Hezbollah gunners fired at least 30 rockets at Kiryat Shmona and the Golan Heights on Thursday. Rocket alert sirens were subsequently triggered in cities and other communities across northern Israel around 10 A.M.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Eight rockets hit the Ma’alot area before dawn Thursday in the first nighttime Hezbollah rockets attack on Israel. Three rockets scored direct hits on homes in the northern town causing severe damage.

After two days in which Hezbollah fired almost no rockets at Israel, some 210 rockets and missiles were launched on Wednesday toward northern communities – the largest number since the beginning of the fighting.

Ahmadinejad: Solution to Middle East crisis is to destroy Israel

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday the solution to the Middle East crisis was to destroy Israel, Iranian state media reported.

In a speech during an emergency meeting of Muslim leaders in Malaysia, Ahmadinejad also called for an immediate cease-fire to end the fighting between Israel and the Iranian-back group Hezbollah. “Although the main solution is for the elimination of the Zionist regime, at this stage an immediate cease-fire must be implemented,” Ahmadinejad said, according to state-run television in a report posted on its Web site.

The Islamic world’s biggest bloc on Thursday demanded that the United Nations implement an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon and investigate what it called flagrant human rights violations by Israel.

It is nice that just before he calls for the destruction of Israel he demands the UN impose a Cease-Fire..

The main solution in resolving this conflict is the elimination of the Terrorist regimes of Iran and Syria.
