Senator Rick Santorum claims coalition investigators in Iraq found chemical weapons — artillery shells filled with a chemical agent. The Shells are aparently from Pre Gulf War Stocks, (pre-1991), however Nerve gas is still Nerve gas  and is a blatant violation of the UNSC Resolutions. The discovery was apparently made in april 2004, yet not made public until today. Dems and the left speculate that the delay in making the info public is political in nature, however if that were true wouldn't it have been made public in October 2004, not June 2006.

  1. Are we forgetting the fact the Americans and Germans were the ones who helped Saddam with his chemical weapons program during and before the Gulf War?

  2. Scribbles;

What America sold Saddam during the Iran/Iraq War was Agricultural materials. Pesticides fertalizers, and some of the thechnology to produce them. The unfortunate thing about many technologies is that they have both a peaceful puropse as well as military applications. By Far and away the biggest contributers to Saddams WMD arsenal were Russia, East Germany, and France.

  3. Trevor

Darrell is on serious drugs. The previous administrations have openly admitted that they sold Saddam weapons and when the UN tried to impose sanctions, we blocked it and protected the dictator. Right-wing is having a field day over this but it was VP Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, George Tenet, C. Rice and the GW Prez himself who have all admitted that no WMDs were found. Does anybody here have what’s called a memory? This de-classified “Dan Rather” style document is interesting at best.

  4. Darrell: There is no doubt the US provided Iran with the incentive and encouragement to start its nuclear program during the Shah era. However, after the Shah was toppled and Khomeini came to power, there was a 180-degree reversal of policies: America began porpogating against the consequences of Iran’s possession of nuclear arms. As a retaliatory measure, it provided Iraq, which was waging a war against Iran, with the vital know-how and support to start its chemical weapons program. America’s involvement in development of Iraq’s chemical weapons is undeniable. Read Iraq and Chemical Weapons, the US Connection by Elson E. Boles on CounterPunch. (Please don’t say CP is a left-wing organization. Ponder upon the references).

    Trevor,

Maybe you should do some research BEFORE you run your mouth off. The US sold Saddam agricultural materials and some unfitted helicopters. No WMDs. Why don’t you show us where on the side of those Sarin canisters it states “made in the USA”, you dumbass.

  6. TantheBlackhearted

    Scribbles:

Were you doing drugs during this period of time? Hostage situation ring a bell? Marine barracks bombing?

Considering what Khomeni was up to, think we were going to support a nuclear program?

    Let’s get real here.

  7. Trevor

TTBH…why don’t you research and prove to me differently? If you can? It doesn’t change the fact that Santorum blew himself a nice dry hump squirt over this Weapons of Minor Discomfort claim. Junk munitions from the Iran/Iraq war. It was VP Cheney who was the first to admit of no WMD’s on Meet The Press in 2004, not Democrats and not Liberals. There is NO speculation into the delay of “classified” info we’ve known about since 2004 with the Bush appointed Weapons Inspector, David Kay released his report. He claimed that they were found and would continue to be found especially near the Iran border. He confirmed this information today and reiterated that this info was NOT classified. UN Weapons Inspectors were finding them right after Desert Storm. The Pentagon, the Dept of Defense and the Intelligence community all confirmed that these were known about and not what constituted the WMDs program that brought us into the war. GW Bush said this morning that “we’ve already established that there were no WMDs in Iraq.” Hannity and Fox News plled a “dan Rather” by being gullibly duped into nonsense for the sole purpose of promoting an agenda. Do these people really believe the American people are this freakin stupid? If it wasn’t so funny, it would be an insult.

  8. TantheBlackhearted

    Trevor:

Maybe a reading comprehension course is in order. No where in the information published is it stated that the Sarin and Mustard
gases were in full strength. As a matter of fact the document states the weapons material was DEGRADED.

Obviously you know nothing about Sarin or Mustard gas. Now in it’s degraded form, it is still lethal.

How about we store them in your basement since you think it’s laughable?

However, the only stupid I see however, is coming from your end of the computer screen.

  9. Trevor,

We have not found the Stockpiles of WMD that we expected to find. We have found elements of WMD programs. Programs that were banned by UNSC Resolutions. The fact that several hundred older artillary shells were found is clear evidence that Saddam had no intention of living up to the Cease Fire agreement from the 1991 Gulf War, That Saddam lied when he said all Chimical weapons were destroyed, and that the UN Weapons Inspectors failed to uncover parts of Saddams WMD Arsenal. From the time it became clear to everyone that this Administration was not going to allow the stalling and delaying tactics of Saddam and his Oil for food buddies, Several months passed in which Saddam easily could have hidden the stockpiles in Iraq, shipped them to Syria, or some other sympathetic regime.

So Trevor What is it that you are claiming here, That Saddam never had WMD’s? Kurds and Iranians will disagree with you on that claim. Or are you claiming that Saddam Destroyed all his WMD stockpiles and programs? Then explain why he did not reveal this to the Weapons inspectors and provide some kind of doccumentation that they were destroyed. The bottom line here is that Saddam had an obligation to live up to UNSC Resolutions, to provide the status of his known WMD stockpiles & Programs and if WMD were destroyed to provide the evidence of that destruction. Saddam failed to live up this obligation, and that is 1 reason he was removed.

  10. Trevor

The agreement to the cease fire was to not have a weapons program after the Desert Storm and to my knowledge and I’m going with the President and the VP and the whole administration at their word here, we found no proof of a weapons programs developed after Desert Storm. The munitions were from before Desert Storm and were destroyed due to age and poor maintenance. The UN weapons inspectors told us that…back in DESERT STORM!!! Have ya noticed that not even Fox News is trying to jerk this limp dick anymore? Americans are not stupid (well most of them anyways. We have no proof that anything was shipped to Syria and I would count on proof not put out by Right-wing media or Left-wing media but credible, non-partisan research and certainly not Jewish Neo-con Bodanski. That Syria nonsense was debunked in 2004. Bottom line, Saddam had no WMDs program post Desert Storm (not 20 year old junk munitions), he was nowhere’s near the worse dictator in the World, you people didn’t give a shit about the Iraqi people then anymore than you give a shit about them now, the Country has reached record high debt that will be passed onto our next generation and some Americans actually give a shit about their children, We never finished the job in Afghanistan (ya know…the War the Liberals agreed with until we blew our loads to early for a country we had under control), Santorum’s re-election has a WMD’s chance in Iraq of being found, and currently there is a policy to correct the Electoral College so that the country may vote the way the founding fathers intended it. One man, one vote. That’s really gonna suck for the Red states because you are so drastically outnumbered. So….hang onto your WMD’s love doll because this country is about to send you brainchilds a message.

  11. Trevor

Oh yeah…General Casey’s secret memo…..cut and run? Sure beats Lie and Die! Your leaders are getting the point, why don’t you.

  12. Tantheblackhearted

    Trevor:

Does stupid come naturally to you, or do you have to work at it?

Saddam wasn’t that bad? That statement alone says it all.

    What was Salman Pak?

If Saddam was such a sweet, misunderstood guy, why did he divert water sources from towns to fill his fountains and swimming pools?

What were those offers of 25k per terrorist act against US and Israeli interests?

What was that oil for food scandal all about? Just what do you think he was planning to do with all that money?

1.77 Metric tons of enriched uranium ring a bell?

Please don’t speak for the military Trevor, as you are a coward. They know the purpose of their mission and don’t need a crybaby taking up their cause.

My bet would be if you talked like this in front of a military member, you’d get bitch slapped.

Have a warm and fuzzy day, limp dick
