Here is my first Post on Murtha comments

WASHINGTON (AP) — The fallout from the killing of as many as two dozen Iraqi civilians by Marines could undermine U.S. efforts in Iraq more than the Abu Ghraib prison scandal did, a lawmaker who is a prominent war critic said Sunday.

The shootings last November at Haditha, a city in the Anbar province of western Iraq that has been plagued by insurgents, were covered up, said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.

"Who covered it up, why did they cover it up, why did they wait so long?" Murtha said on "This Week" on ABC. "We don't know how far it goes. It goes right up the chain of command."

What about "ongoing investigation" does Jack Murtha not understand. There is no coverup. There is an investigation to determine exactly what happened and who if anyone will face military discipline. Murtha being a former Marine Colonel knows full well that the Marine Corps can not comment on an ongoing investigation. His constant rants delivered through the media do more to undermine US efforts in Iraq than all the attrocities alleged or otherwise could ever do.  Let the Military conduct the investigation, and prosecute those that must be held responsible . If after that has been done if Murtha doesn't feel that justice has been served then he should speak up. Doing so now, before the investigation is completed serves only one purpose, to undermine our mission in Iraq, and those troops deployed in the execution of that mission.

Jack Murth should be ashamed of himself. I know I certainly am ashamed of him, both as a Veteran, and as a congressional representative.

[...] I have made several comments about Murtha and his criticism of our troops in Iraq before. here here here here & here Throughout all my criticism of Murtha's comments I have maintained that they were designed to score political points for himself and his party at the expense of the US Military and specifically those serving in Iraq. Anyone who would seek to advance their political career at the expense of those proudly wearing our nations uniform is a disgrace.  Jack Murtha clearly places his short term political gains ahead our national security on his priority list. He is a disgrace to those he represents in congress and a disgrace to all who have worn our nations uniform past and present. [...]
