WASHINGTON – Zacarias Moussaoui has said he lied on the stand about being involved in Sept. 11, and he has asked to withdraw his guilty plea.The statement appears in a motion filed in federal court in Alexandria by his attorneys.Moussaoui last week was sentenced to life in prison, after a jury rejected the government's appeal to sentence him to death.

Moussaoui is just seeking an avenue to to continue his rhetoric. The evidence on his laptop alone demonstrates his ties to Al Qaeda and 9-11.

  1. This is just another piece of the comedy that has been his trial. His attorneys/he create enough questions so that a jury is not confident enough to give him the death penalty and now he flips even further…

    It should have been death.

  2. He as a foreign national was operating with an organization that has declared war against us. That alone should have removed his case from the juridiction of the federal courts and his trial should have been held under a military tribunal.

    Darrell,
    The military is not the place for this. Do we think the Constitution of the United States is only for Americans? It’s not. It is the document that describes how our government should behave itself and it does not matter if the person is foreign born or not. The only exception made for the military is when Congress has declared war and the person is engaged in acts of war when captured. This was not the case with Mouse at all when he was captured.
    What would you have done with Russians in the US when Kruschev said “We will bury you”? They would have fit your criteria above better than Mouse did. And they would not have had to do anything against the US.
    Now, I believe that Congress has the power under the Constitution to create a court system for foreign born persons who violate our laws. Perhaps we need to get Congress off its collective butt and write some laws that reflect the situations we face. Then we can relax the rules of evidence , the rules of appeal, and send those foreigners to jails in foreign countries instead of clogging up our own system.

  4. Dale;

    Read the executive order issued on 13 November 2001, which was issued pursuant to Public Law 107-40 passed by congress 18 Sept 2001.

    Mouse meets all the conditions to be tried under military tribunals. Why he wasn’t is anyone’s guess. be he certainly meets the criteria far more so than Jose Padilla.
